Kim Welch, Founding Partner

With a background in nutrition, Kim has always believed that food is medicine. She started to research ghee as a healing oil and herbalism, hoping to help heal her daughter, who had become ill. Always wanting to understand the root cause, Kim began educating herself on the ancient teachings of Ayurveda. She started implementing the principles in her family’s life. She noticed a positive change immediately and helped heal her daughter from an illness diagnosed as “lifelong.”

Lynn Goodwin, Founding Partner

It all started with the desire to heal, reconnect with nature, and live a more healthy and meaningful life. Which later led them to seek a deeper understanding of the root cause of disease. The two California College of Ayurveda alums formed a friendship through their studies. They shared their experiences of the life-changing teachings of Ayurveda. Together a partnership was formed to bring the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda to their families and community. And that was the beginning of the transformative power of ghee.

The Inspiration Behind Farmtrue

Lynn’s path to Ayurveda began to blossom when she implemented its benefits through nutrition school and yoga teacher training.

Lynn and Kim were deeply inspired and firmly pulled to share this ancient wisdom within their communities and beyond. After completing the training programs, is when their journey begins. And at that time, ghee or Ayurveda was not a trendy topic. But they knew that ghee was the best ancient superfood, and everybody could benefit from it. Ghee was the vehicle to start the wellness conversation, and they saw a need for high-quality ghee in the Northeast.

In Ayurveda, ghee is the optimal oil for nourishing the body and mind and healing digestion. Ghee has been used for centuries as a digestive and elimination aid for energy, skin, and eye health, lubricating the joints, and alkalizing the blood degrees. It is also shelf-stable, lactose-free, and casein-free. Therefore, it is a better choice for those that are lactose intolerant or have digestive issues. In addition, ghee offers wonderful health benefits: it’s high in vitamin A&D, promotes healthy digestion, and highly nourishes and heals all body tissues. It is also a premium cooking oil ideal for high heat due to its flash point of 485° Fahrenheit.

What Makes Farmtrue Unique?

Our partners – Not all ghee is made the same way. Farmtrue ghee is certified organic and humane. All of our butter is sourced from over 30 US Dairy farms that are family-owned, certified organic, and certified humane. Why is this important? The dairy industry in the US is experiencing challenging times. According to the USDA, more than 3,000 dairy farms closed in  2019. We are proud to support the farmers who have been there to supply a local food source for the country. In addition, US consumers are more aware of and concerned about the future food supply and the health of the US economy. We pride ourselves on aligning with those values.

Farmtrue Ghee-Based Skin Care, Formulated by Season and Body TypeFarmtrue approaches their skincare in the same way they do food; they believe it’s worth the extra effort to ensure that all of their products are nourishing digestible food for the skin. Because Farmtrue ghee is a nourishing oil for both inside and outside the body, it is the base ingredient in their body and skincare products. In addition, Farmtrue ghee is a superior carrier oil, so when infused with Ayurvedic herbs, the benefits of these herbs are carried deep into the skin’s tissues, helping to nourish, support, and hydrate all layers of tissue. Their formulations are based on the Ayurvedic body types and the seasonal shifts throughout the year. Because of this, you’ll notice a difference in Farmtrue products and fall in love with caring for yourself daily using their luxurious Ayurvedic skincare line.

Pure Passion – People, instead of machines, make their products. Farmtrue uses simple techniques in their North Stonington, CT-based kitchen to provide the purest Ayurvedic products possible.
